An old mill dam waterfall and miles of boardwalk
Company Mill Preserve in Climax, North Carolina, covers 240 acres next to Hagan-Stone Park. The trails pass an old mill dam with a waterfall and a grist mill wheel, boardwalks past beaver dams, old tobacco barns, a historic schoolhouse and a lake overlook. Leashed dogs are welcome, and there is no fee.

We went in early September 2020. The stone mill dam with the water spilling over it was the highlight, and the long boardwalks made easy going through the wet ground.
